We are trying a bit of an experiment here. In an attempt to make a central resource for materials information, we have created another blog, http://makingbldgs.wordpress.com . The idea is to make a single site for colleagues and clients to look at a large variety of available building materials, primarily finish materials, and their associated costs, technical, historical and aesthetic uses. So, over the next number of months we will be posting single images of materials and gradually editing the posts to include additional information. Eventually we would like to have a photo of the material, a couple of photos of it used on-site, some practical usage notes, and then some more creative impressions on the use of the material, its qualities and phenomenological responses.
So, please feel free to stop by and leave a comment or two. As a beginning we have taken the wood samples that are included in the previous post and are using them to start up the blog under the 'wood' category.
